Cory, looking down at her feet: “You know… we all have masks. No matter how thin or thick they may be, they exist. And I want to see who’s behind yours. Don’t you tire of being an actor?”
Darren doesn’t look at her and continues driving.
Cory: “Darren?”
Darren, smiling devilishly: “What’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever done in your life?”
Cory: “…What?”
Darren: “Just answer this question and I’ll answer yours: do you like adventure?”
Cory: “…Yeah? I guess…”
He looks back at her with vacant eyes and a vibrant smile.
Darren: “Guess what?”
Cory, eyes wide: “W-w-what?”
Darren: “We’re never going back to camp.”
All that can be heard is the sound of tires screeching against the pavement, then sirens, then crying, then nothing.
